Norfolk Virginian Pilot July 27, 1949

Miss Rosa Esperanza Smith, of 333 West Freemason Street, died Monday at 9:45 
p.m. in a Norfolk hospital.
A lifelong resident of Norfolk, Miss Smith was a daughter of the late Peter and 
Mrs. Maria Franco Smith. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and 
the Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Surviving are one sister, Miss Constance A. Smith; a brother, E. Vincent Smith, 
of Norfolk; one niece, Miss Dorothy M. Smith and a nephew, Capt. X. Martin 
Smith, both of Los Angeles, Calif.
Funeral services will be conducted today at 9 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic 
Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

o'clock p.m., ROSA ESPERANZA, daughter of the late Peter and Maria Franco Smith. 
Remains will be taken from the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 1501 Colonial 
Avenue, to Sacred Heart Catholic Church for services THIS (Wednesday) MORNING at 
9 o’clock. Friends of the family are invited to attend. Interment in St. Mary’s 
Cemetery.
