A native of Princess Anne County, he had spent most of his life in Norfolk. He was retired in 1919, having been associated with the Farmer's Manufacturing Company for a number of years. He was a son of William A. and Mrs. Emma Whitehurst Smith, and a member of Woodmen of the World Lodge No. 97. In addition to his wife, Mrs. Rosa E. Smith Smith, he is survived by two sons, A. Lee Smith, Norfolk, and W. Wallace Smith, Richmond; two sisters, Mrs. John Harvey and Mrs. E.L. Godfrey, both of Norfolk; a brother, Albert C. Smith, of Norfolk; five grandchildren and a niece and a nephew. Funeral services will be conducted at the Cox Funeral Home tomorrow at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Roland P. Riddick, pastor of the Park Place Methodist Church.
