Mrs. Emma J. Smith, 73, a member of the Missionary Society and a Sunday 
school teacher at St. Paul Holiness Tabernacle, was given funeral rites 
there on Sunday.

The Rev. T. L. Alston, pastor of St. Paul, delivered the eulogy. Burial was 
in Mt. Olive Cemetery under direction of Pretlow’s Funeral Home.

Mrs. Smith lived at 430 Appomattox street. She died at her home on Aug. 30. 
A native of Hertford, NC, she had lived in Norfolk 45 years.

She is survived by her husband, Allen Smith; a son, Milton Smith of Norfolk; 
and a daughter, Mrs. Demetry Durant, also of Norfolk.
