Norfolk Virginian Pilot April 20, 1952

Sidney E. Smith, 80, a lifelong resident of Norfolk, died yesterday at 5:30 a.m. 
at a Norfolk hospital. He was a retired employee of the Norfolk Navy Yard and 
resided at 2223 East Ocean view Avenue. He was a veteran of the Spanish American 
War and a member of Norfolk Lodge 38, Elks.
He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Mamie Smith Ford and a great niece, Mrs. 
Helen Sidney Peterson, of Norfolk.
Services will be conducted at the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments tomorrow at 2 
p.m. by the Rev. George W. Amos, pastor of Colonial Avenue Methodist Church. 
Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
