Norfolk - John Smith of 1304 Buck road died in New York after a short illness.

A native of Norfolk, he was a son of the late Samuel and Mrs. Georgia Smith.

He was retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard and was an Army veteran of World War 
II.

Surviving are a son, Samuel Smith of Norfolk;  a daughter, Mrs. Gloria D. 
Sanders of Puerto Rico;  a brother, Odell Smith of Norfolk;  and two 
grandchildren.

Services were held in Hale Funeral Home.  Burial, with military honors, was in 
Calvary Cemetery.
