Norfolk Virginian March 4, 1888

SMITH - At the residence of her son, Loring C. Smith, No. 10 Falkland 
Street, Friday, March 2d, at 11:15 p.m., Mrs. MARTHA A. SMITH,, in the 78th 
year of her age.
Her funeral will take place from Christ P.E. Church, at 3:30 o'clock SUNDAY, 
March 4th.

The funeral of Mrs. Martha A. Smith took place from Christ's Episcopal 
Church Sunday afternoon, being very largely attended.  Rev. O.S. Bartan, 
rector of the church, conducted the funeral services, after which the 
remains were conveyed to Elmwood Cemetery and interred.  The following 
gentlemen acted as pallbearers: Capt. J.W. Gilmer, Capt. J.E. Barry, Messrs. 
A.L. Hill, A.D. Blake, Smith Turner, B.T. Camp, B.T. Bockover and D.C. 
Lassiter.
