Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Wednesday, September 29, 1993 
Joyce Smith, 22, of the 1200 block of Tidewater Drive, a former student at
Norfolk State University, died Sept. 27, 1993 in a local hospital.

She was employed as a cashier/clerk by McDonald's and was a member of the
Antioch Missionary Baptist Church of Norfolk.

She is survived by her mother, Annie Lee Smith of Norfolk; three sisters,
Phyllis Cordero of Quantico, Va., Jackie Baker of Virginia Beach, and Alvonia
Means of Norfolk; five brothers, Matthew L. Smith, Edward L. Smith, Maurice
Smith, Keith O. Smith, and Willie Smith, all of Norfolk. She was preceded in
death by her father, Willie Means.

A funeral will be at noon Friday in the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church and
conducted by Dr. I. Joseph Williams. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery .
The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Friday. The family will
assemble at 1275 Tidewater Drive. Hale Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
