Washington High School, died Saturday in a hospital. A native of Norfolk, she was a daughter of the late Robert H. and Mrs. Agnes Scott Smith. After early schooling in Norfolk public schools, she continued her secondary education at Wilberforce Academy, Ohio. She was graduates with an A.B. degree from Hampton Institute and took her Master of Arts degree from Virginia Normal and Industrial Institute, Petersburg, now Virginia State College. She was a member of Bank Street Baptist Church and its Gleaners Club and board of Education. She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Amici Club, Virginia Education Association, National education Association, and Norfolk education Association. Surviving are an aunt, Mrs. Berty Phillips of Richmond; and a nephew, Bernard S. Smith Jr. of Washington. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. in Bank Street Baptist Church by the Rev. John B. Henderson. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with Riddick Funeral Service in charge. The body will be taken to church at 11 a.m. Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the building fund of Bank Street Baptist Church in her name.
