Mrs. Catherine Smith, who died at her residence, 625 North Shore Drive, was
buried August 3 in Calvary Cemetery, Norfolk, following funeral services at
First Baptist Church, Logan Park.

The rites were conducted by the Rev. H. L. McLendon, pastor of Mt. Pleasant
Baptist Church.  Obituaries were read by the church clerk, Mrs. Annie Mae
Hamilton.  Mrs. Dora Winston offered a solo.  Pallbearers were drawn from a
fraternal organization with which the deceased was affiliated.

Mrs. Smith is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Lelia Mantley and Mrs. Mary Bland;
five sons, Charles, Freddie, Willie, Hershey, and Tommie Bright; three nephews,
three nieces, eight grandchildren, and other relatives.  Burial arrangements
were in charge of the Fisher Funeral Home of Portsmouth.
