Chicago - George R. Smith, 74, of 639 E. 79th St., a brother of Mrs. Effie C.
Ferguson of Norfolk and Mrs. Queen Newton of Philadelphia, died July 5 in his home.

He was a self-employed gardener.

The body was sent to Hale Funeral Chapel, Norfolk, where a funeral was held July
9 by the Rev. John C. Riddick.  Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Norfolk.
