Smith, of the firm of Smith & Odell, livery stable keepers, expired at 5 o'clock Sunday afternoon. The death of Mr. Smith was very sudden, he being in attendance at the Freemason Street Baptist Church Sunday morning. From thence he went to his residence in Brambleton, and then returned to this city, going to the residence of his sister, Mrs. S.C. Brock, at 79 Mariner Street. While there life became extinct from heart disease. Mr. Smith was a Baptist in faith, and was a member of Centreville Lodge, K. of H. He served with Company I, Virginia cavalry, during the Civil War. He leaves a wife and five children. Funeral services will take place today from Freemason Street Baptist Church at 12 o'clock. The deceased was esteemed by all who knew him. He was a native of Princess Anne County.
