Smith, 63, of 623 Partridge Ave., died Saturday in a Norfolk hospital after a short illness. He was a native of Emporia, son of Rufus and Mrs. Clara Smith. He lived in South Norfolk 40 years. He operated Arthur's Barber Shop in Norfolk 21 years. He was a member of the Baltimore Union Lodge and First Calvary Baptist Church, Norfolk, where he was an usher. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Rosa Smith; a son, George Smith of Emporia; a daughter, Mrs. Unice Catten of Norfolk; three sisters, Mrs. Daisy Preston of Fredericksburg, Mrs. Minnie Druitt of Philadelphia and Mrs. Pinkey Druitt of Norfolk; and three brothers, Havort Smith and Willie Smith of Norfolk and Walter Smith of Plainfield, NJ. The body was taken to Morning Glory Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday in First Calvary Baptist Church by the Rev. C. E. Griffin, pastor. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
