The funeral of Alex Smith, who died September 3, at St. Vincent’s Hospital as
the result of an accident, was conducted from the Second Calvary Baptist Church,
Wednesday, September 6, with the Rev. Samuel A. Wilson officiating in the
absence of the pastor, the Rev. O. P. Madison.

The deceased was a member of the Good Samaritans and was employed by Birtcherd’s
Dairy.  Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Millie Smith;  three daughters, Mesdames
Mary Maby and Alberta Skinner and Willie Mae White and one brother.  Other
relatives are Mrs. Rosa Spinner, Mrs. Baker, Mrs. Holmes, Mrs. Emma Snead, Miss
Corine Snead, Miss Margaret Ryles, Miss Audrey Spinner and Mrs. Jones.
