Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Thursday, April 4, 2002 
Willie M. ``Bill'' Smith passed away at Sentara Leigh Memorial Hospital March
31, 2002.

A native of Norfolk, Willie was the son of Lewis and Ida Smith. He was a
graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and attended Hampton Institute. He
enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served four years.

Survivors include his brother, Louis M. Smith and wife Maxine Riddick Smith;
nephews, Louis Smith and Lavern Smith; niece, Yvonne Smith; and great-nieces and
-nephews.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Riddick Funeral Service chapel.
Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery . Viewing will be held from 2 to 8
p.m. at the funeral home with the family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m.
