Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Saturday, October 11, 2003 
VIRGINIA BEACH - Evelyn M. ``Punkin'' Smith of the 5800 block of Maywood Blvd.,
was called to rest Oct. 8, 2003. She was a member of Gideon Riverside Fellowship
of Norfolk, its Deaconess Board, Missionary Circle, Golden Age Club and an
honorary usher. She was predeceased by her husband, Lewis O. Smith and her
mother, Gracie Creecy.

She leaves to cherish her memory a devoted cousin, Corrine Spratley of Norfolk;
cousin, Earline Hachett of Norfolk; three sisters, Louise Orr, Ethel Smiley and
Rosie Lee Wiggins, all of Norfolk; a brother, Robert Brown of Connecticut; two
nephews, Earl Powell of Maryland and Rudolph Powell of Norfolk; and a lifetime
devoted friend, Anne Thornton.

A funeral will be held today at 12:30 p.m. at Hale Funeral Chapel with Dr.
Milton A. Reid officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery .
