Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Wednesday, January 28, 1998 
Mary M. Smith of the 1000 block of Ave. E died Jan. 26, 1998, in DePaul Hospital.

She was a Norfolk native and a former employee of Eastern Elementary School. She
was a member of Oakwood Chapel Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Joyce E. Wilson of Norfolk; four brothers, Herbert
L. Smith, Albert J. Smith, William L. Smith of Norfolk, Fredrick C. Smith of
Virginia Beach; a sister, Fannie L. Spratley of Norfolk; three grandsons; two
great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Friday in Oakwood Chapel Church by Bishop
C.N. White Jr. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery , Norfolk. The family will
receive friends at the residence. The remains will be placed in the church at 10
a.m. the day of the service. Graves Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
