Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 21 for Robert H. Smith at Grace 
Protestant Episcopal Church by the rector, Father Richard B. Martin.

He died Sunday, Jan. 18, at his residence, 1224 Courtney street after a short 
illness.  A native of Norfolk,  he was an employee of the Norfolk Naval Shipyard 
for the past 18 years.  He was a member of Campbell Lodge 67, the Royal Club, 
the Hiawatha Club and founder and first president of the Ridewater Golfers 
Association.  Mr. Smith was very active in the affairs of his church where he 
was a member of the Men’s club, the Brotherhood of St. Andrew and the Usher’s 
Guild.

The son of Mrs. Agnes Scott Smith and the late Robert H. Smith Sr., he is 
survived by, besides his mother, his wife, Mrs. Florrie R. Smith, one brother, 
Bernard Scott Smith of Richmond;  two aunts, Mrs. Bettie Phillips of Richmond, 
Mrs. Janice Coleman of New York and a nephew, Bernard Scott Smith, Jr.

Graveside Masonic rites were conducted at Calvary Cemetery.  Hale Funeral Home 
was in charge of arrangements.
