Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Sunday, October 8, 2000 
Robert E. Smith Jr., 52, of the 3500 block of Ladd Ave., quietly passed away
Oct. 5, 2000. He was a native of Norfolk and was employed with Reliance Staffing.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Carolyn Smith; two sons, Anthony Smith
and Charles Fields; his father, Robert E. Smith Sr.; his mother, Maxine
Lightner; two sisters, Alice Pender and husband, George, of Norfolk, Doretha
High and husband, Zeb, of Virginia Beach; three grandchildren; and a host of
nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be conducted Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Riddick Funeral Service Chapel
where the Rev. Ditawa M. Nianda will preside. A viewing will be held Monday from
2 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery . The
family will assemble at the funeral home.
