Funeral services for Samuel Lee Smith, Jr., who died at a local hospital, were
conducted from the Metropolitan A. M. E. Z. Church, Monday, January 2, with the
pastor, the Rev. E. G. Cowan officiating, assisted by the Rev. B. W. Harris and
B. B. Evans.

A solo was sung by Lawrence Harrison.  The service was largely attended. 
Surviving the deceased are his wife, Mrs. Julia Bright Smith, a son, Bernard,
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Lee Smith Sr., a sister, Miss Mamie Smith, and a
brother, Herbert.

Messrs. James Gandy, Claud Williams, Moses Ricks, Richard Harris and Ralph
Harris served as pallbearers.
