Virginian Pilot February 11, 1899
Mr. Seth Smithson departed this life yesterday at 4 p.m. at his home on Montlant 
avenue.  Funeral service Sunday, at Berkley Avenue Baptist Church at 3 p.m.  
Deceased was 20 years of age and had been declining for some months.

The funeral of Mr. Seth Smithson, who died at his home in Berkley Friday, took 
place from Berkley Avenue Baptist Church at 3 p.m. Sunday.  The services were 
conducted by Rev. James G. Burroughs.  The interment was in Magnolia Cemetery.  
The following were the pallbearers:  Benjamin Poyner, Robert E. Lane, William 
Plummer, Charles Poyner, Opie R. Allen and _______ Harris.
