The Norfolk Virginian Pilot January 25, 1937
John Webb Smithson, aged 77, died yesterday afternoon at 5:15 o'clock at his 
residence, 118 Walnut street, Berkley, after a brief illness.  He was a native 
of Pasquotank County, N.C., an had made his home here for nineteen years.  He 
was the son of David and Sarah Williams Smithson, widower of Tenie Carmine 
Smithson, and is survived by three daughters, Mrs. G.R. Cherry, Mrs. R.B. Paul 
and Miss Clara Smithson; four sons, J.J., R., E.L. and W.W. Smithson, and nine 
grandchildren, all of this section.  Mr. Smithson was a member of the Berkley 
Avenue Baptist Church.
The Body was removed to the Graham Funeral home, 124 East Berkley avenue, where 
funeral services will be conducted tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock.  Burial 
will be in Riverside Memorial Park.
