Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Wednesday, December 6, 1995 
Roland Silas Smith Sr., departed this life at a local hospital on Dec. 4, 1995.

He was a native of Norfolk County and a member of Oakwood Chapel Church
Disciples of Christ. Mr. Smith was retired from the Defense Logistic Agency
after 37 years of service as a supervisor. He was predeceased by his parents,
Robert and Lucy Smith.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Arabella K. Smith; devoted
daughter, Beverly J. Smith of Seymour, Conn.; devoted son, Roland S. Smith; five
brothers, Robert Smith, Herbert Smith, Fredrick Smith of Virginia Beach, Albert
Smith and William Smith; two sisters, Mary Smith and Fannie Spratley; six
grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews; and a host of friends who will sadly
miss him.

A funeral service will be conducted at noon Friday in Oakwood Chapel Church of
Disciples of Christ by the Rev. C.N. White. Burial is in Calvary Cemetery .
Friends may join the family at the residence. There will be a Wake service
Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Graves Funeral Home.
