Smyth, white, of Norfolk, and Jim Sitlington, negro, of Rockingham county, both convicted of killing women, went to the electric chair in the penitentiary here today. Smyth was electrocuted first, and Sitlington followed shortly after. There was no hitch in either case. Smyth, who was a bartender, killed his wife and nine-year-old daughter with a revolver in a drunken fury last August, and was sentenced by Judge Hanckel, of the corporation court of Norfolk, to die December 8, but was granted a respite until today by the Governor.
