A funeral service was held recently at Bethlehem Baptist Church for Solomon 
Henry Sneed Jr. of 2750 Cromwell road, who died suddenly.

The pastor, the Rev. J. Q. A. Lassiter, conducted the rites and was assisted by 
Elder Samuel A. Wilson, pastor of New Calvary Baptist Church.  Burial was in 
Calvary Cemetery under direction of Morning Glory Funeral Home.

Mr. Sneed was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Solomon Sneed Sr.  He was a  
native and lifelong resident of Norfolk.  He spent his past 15 years as 
caretaker of B’nai Israel Cemetery.  He was a member of Bethlehem church and 
served on its male usher board.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Alfreida Allen Sneed;  a stepdaughter, Mrs. 
Sara V. Bland;  two step grandsons, Robert and James Edward Bland;  two sisters, 
Mrs. Lena Jones and Mrs. Lottie Smith, all of Norfolk;  and a brother, Willie 
Sneed of New York.

Honorary pallbearers were James L. Bostic and John Calvin Smith.  Active 
pallbearers were Edward Spruill, Carl Williams, Fred Jones, Oscar Sawyer and 
Walter Jones.

Persons from out of town who attended the funeral included Mrs. Annie Bell Goff, 
Willie Sneed Sr. and Willie Sneed Jr. of New York;  Mrs. Marcia Lee of 
Cleveland, James Arthur Allen and Mrs. Margaret Jones Cassell of Washington,  
Mrs. Inez Tray of Richmond, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Allen, Mr. and Mrs. Willie 
Edward Allen, Mr. and Mrs. George Alston,  Mrs. Mattie Lyons, Russell Lyons Jr., 
and Mrs. L. Lewin, all of Petersburg.
