Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Tuesday, October 19, 2010 
NORFOLK - William A. Snipes , 73, formerly of Madison Ave., passed away Oct. 16,
2010 in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. He was born Jan. 13, 1937 to Alexina
A. Snipes and the late Williams Snipes . He retired from the Navy Exchange
Commissary after 25 years of service as a butcher. He was also a newspaper route
supervisor for The Virginian-Pilot newspaper for 15 years. William was a member
of St. Mary's Catholic Church and received an associate's degree from Norfolk
State University. He was the widower of Mildred Snipes .

William is survived by his nephew, Charles G. Snipes ; two nieces, Jhera and
Tiara; and one great niece, Tamia; sister-in-law, Gwen Alexander; and an aunt,
Gladys Hickenbarthem of Maryland.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Calvary Cemetery,
Norfolk, with Pastor George Gregory Bright officiating. Metropolitan Funeral
Services, Granby St., is in charge. Condolences may be offered at
