Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Thursday, November 4, 2010 
NORFOLK - Alexina A. Snipes, 93, formerly of Easy Street, passed away Monday,
Oct. 25, 2010. She was born May 13, 1917, the daughter of the late Joseph and
Alexina Allen. She was predeceased by her sons, William A. Snipes and Charles J.
Snipes. Alexina was a retired nurse at Norfolk Community Hospital and the
Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters. After retirement, she was a private
duty nurse. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church, Bute Street.

She is survived by her grandson, Charles G. Snipes; great-granddaughters, Jhera
Gallop and Tiera Tallery; great-great-granddaughter, Tamia Talley; sister,
Gladys Hicenbarthem of Maryland; goddaughter, Alexina Hairston; daughter-in-law,
Gwendolyn Alexander; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, at First Baptist
Church, Bute Street, with Pastor Robert Murray officiating. Interment will be in
Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends will assemble at the church. Metropolitan
Funeral Service, Granby Chapel, is in charge. Condolences may be offered at
