Snyder Charged With Murder The jury of inquest in the case of Clarence L. Snyder, the young man who was killed while hunting near Kempsville Thursday afternoon last, rendered a verdict in the case yesterday afternoon charging Magistrate O.I. Flemming, on whose farm the killing occurred, with the murder. The verdict is a follows: “We find that the said C.L. Snyder came to his death on November 16th, 1899, in Princess Anne County, Virginia, by a wound caused by a rifle fired at the said C.L. Snyder from a rifle in the hands of O.L. Flemming, and that the said O.I. Fleming did feloniously and of his malice aforethought kill and murder the said C.L. Snyder. Signed A.H. Hawks, Justice of Peace and Acting Coroner. C.L. Bonney Foreman. J.H. Luther, D.P. White, W.R. Bage, J.T. Savage. A Remarkable Situation. As will be observed by a perusal of the verdict, it charges murder in the first degree, and the remarkable situation is represented of a man out on a $1,000 bail bond with an offence charged against him, the penalty for which is capital punishment. At Huntersville yesterday, where the coroner’s inquest was held severe criticism of Justice Pritchard, the magistrate who allowed Flemming to give bond, was on the lips of everyone. Some even went so far as to say that Justice Pritchard’s commission should be revoke for committing so gross a violation of the law.
