Norfolk - Mrs. Mary Sockwell, 80, of 1314 Church St., died Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
in a Norfolk hospital after a long illness.

She had been a resident of the New Calvary Church Home for the Aged, and the
Richardson Nursing Home. She was a native of Norfolk.

She was a member of the Phyllis Wheatley Society, former member of the United
Order of Tents, and a member of St. John's AME Church for more than 50 years.

Surviving is a cousin, Mrs. Blanch T. Neal of Norfolk.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 1 p.m. at St. John's AME Church by
the Rev. J. R. Johnson, pastor. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The body
will lie in state at the Citizens Funeral Home today at 4 p.m. to 10 a.m.
Sunday, and from 11 until funeral time at the church.
