The Norfolk Virginian Pilot June 3, 1940 


Hunter Sorey, aged 64 years, husband of Mrs. Dora Cooper Sorey, and son of the 
late Wilson B. and Mrs. Alice Borum Sorey, died at the residence, 3023 Racine 
Avenue, Sunday night at 7:35 o’clock. 
Mr. Sorey was a native and lifelong resident of Norfolk. He was a member of 
Norfolk Lodge No. 38. B.P.O. Elks.
Besides his wife, Mrs. Dora Cooper Sorey, he is survived by one brother, Norman 
Sorey, of Washington, D.C., and a nephew, George Maynard Sorey, of Norfolk. 
Remains taken to H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 1501 Colonial Avenue, pending 
arrangements.
