Mr. Robert W. Southgate, a well-known and respected citizen, died at his home, 6
646 Freemason Street, at 2:20 a.m. yesterday, aged 53 years. The deceased was t
the son of Mr. Martha B. and the late Dr. Robert Southgate, and the brother of M
Mrs. C.J. Iredell. When a young man he was employed in the office of the S
Seaboard and Roanoke Railroad Company, at Portsmouth, but later on resided in C
Columbia, S.C. His illness was of brief duration, death resulting from p
pneumonia. The funeral will be solemnized from the residence at noon Monday.
