PORTSMOUTH - Florence Miles Speaks , 67, of the 2200 block of Rose Ave., died 
June 9, 2007, in Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center. Born in Anderson, S.C., 
she was a retired ward clerk from Portsmouth General Hospital after 10 years. 
She was a former member of St. Paul AME Church, Portsmouth. 

Surviving are her husband, William L. "Bill" Speaks ; son, Troy E. Miles (Cindy) 
of Chesapeake; brother, Benjamin F. Miles Jr. of Virginia Beach; five 
grandchildren; and uncle, niece, cousins, in-laws and friends. She was 
predeceased by a daughter, Shawn "Baby Girl" Speaks ; and her mother and father, 
Clara H. and Benjamin F. Miles. 

A funeral will be held at 6 p.m. Friday in Corprew Funeral Home Chapel, 
Portsmouth, by the Rev. Ronald Goodman. Viewing at the funeral home will begin 
at noon today. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 5:30 p.m. 
Friday.
