Leslie Longmire Speight, 51, died Friday of a heart attack. He was found dead in the rectory of St. Phillips Catholic Church, where he was pastor. A native of Norfolk, he was a son of William C. and Mrs. Elizabeth R. Speight of Norfolk. He attended J.E.B. Stuart School and was a graduate of Maury High School. He was at Falls Church more than two years. He served at St. Mary’s Church in Suffolk, Sacred Heart in Norfolk, Holy Trinity in Ocean View, St. Agnes in Arlington, and St. Mary’s in Alexandria. Besides his mother, he is survived by a sister, Mrs. W. L. Sears of Norfolk. A funeral mass will be celebrated by the Most Rev. John J. Russell, D.D., bishop of the Diocese of Richmond, at St. Phillips Church at 11 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Norfolk, at 5 p.m. Monday, with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Carroll T. Dozier of Christ the King Church officiating.
