J. A. Speight, formerly of Berkley, but now of Ahoskie, N.C. will learn with sorrow of her death. She passed away at 11 o'clock yesterday morning at St. Vincent's Hospital after a brief illness from pneumonia, where she had only been since Saturday. The deceased was in the 63d year of her age and was a woman of many Christian virtues. In Berkley, where she had lived for over twenty-five years she was widely known and highly esteemed. She was the mother of Dr. J.A. Speight, of Norfolk; Mrs. C.T. Peele, of Tarmani, N.C. and Mrs. E.F. Drake, of Sunbeam, Va. Her remains have been removed to the residence of Dr. Speight, No. 140 Cumberland street. The burial services will be held at the grave in Magnolia Cemetery, Berkley, at 10 o'clock this morning. ************************************************** The funeral service over the remains of the late Mrs. J.A. Speight were concluded at the grave in Magnolia Cemetery yesterday morning at 10 o'clock where she was laid to rest. Rev. J.J. Taylor, D.D., of Norfolk, conducted the services. The funeral was largely attended by Berkley people, as the deceased was well known here.
