Virginian-Pilot January 25, 1991
Thomas Spence Sr., of the 800 block of Park Ave., a retired brickmason, died Jan. 
22, 1991, in a hospital.
Mr. Spence, a native of Elizabeth City, was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Bertha Spence; five sons, Thomas Spence Jr., Keith K. 
Spence, James Jackson and Bryan K. Spence, all of Norfolk, and Dr. Brandon D. 
Spence of Michigan; and six grandchildren.
The graveside service with military honors will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in 
St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery by the Rev. Walter Barrett. Family and friends will 
assemble at the residence. Graves Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
