She was the daughter of the John C. Spence, a prosperous farmer who resided until his death a few years ago, near Kempsville, Va. Her mother, Mrs. Mollie Spence, survives her and was living with her at the time of her demise. She leaves also a brother, William Spence, who resides at the old homestead near Kempsville. The deceased was a young woman of many sweet and amiable qualities with a host of friends who esteemed and loved her many virtues. Although modest and retiring her character was of that positive sort that abounds in good deeds as well as generous impulses. Her devotion to her mother and home was sincere and beautiful. She was a consistent member of the Methodist Church. ******************* SPENCE - At her residence, 111 E. Highland Avenue, Wednesday, February 16, 1910, at 4:45 a.m., NEPPIE E. SPENCE, aged 38 years. The funeral will take place THIS (Thursday) AFTERNOON at 2 o'clock from the McKendree M.E. Church. Friends of the family invited to attend.
