A funeral was held recently at Queen Street Baptist Church for Mrs. Josephine
Spence of 1811 O’Keefe street, who died in a local hospital after a short illness.

The Rev. J. Jasper Freeman, pastor of Queen Street Baptist Church officiating. 
Burial was in Calvary Cemetery under direction of Hale Funeral Home.

Mrs. Spence was a native of Raleigh, NC.  She lived in Norfolk about 42 years. 
She was a member of the Elks, Eastern Star, and Queen Street Church.

Her survivors include her husband, Orlando Spence;  two daughters, Mrs. Lela
Moore of Washington and Mrs. Bernice Williams of Norfolk;  a sister, Mrs. Mary
Riddick of New York;  a brother, George Horton of Raleigh;  and a number of
nieces and nephews.
