David and Edna Ward Spencer, in the 8th year of his age. Funeral services will be conducted at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Twenty- ninth and Granby Streets, SUNDAY AFTERNOON, September 8, 1929 at 4 o'clock. Friends of the family invited to attend. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. ********** Additional info from story of drowning on Page 2 of Virginian Pilot and The Norfolk Landmark September 7, 1929 William David Spencer, Jr., aged 8, son of Mr. and Mrs. W.D. Spencer, 2704 Kimball Terrace, drowned yesterday morning in the Eastern Branch of the Elizabeth River, near Chesterfield Heights, when the small boat in which he was rowing with a companion sank. The boy's father is an inspector in the City Health Department. Besides his parents he is survived by a younger brother, Robert H. Spencer, his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Ward and Mrs. Laura Spencer. He was a pupil at the Chesterfield Heights School and attended Spurgeon Memorial Baptist Sunday School.
