NORFOLK - Charlie J. Spencer Sr. of 2417 Ruffin St., a retired, 32-year employe 
of Norfolk Naval Public Works Center and a native of Engelhard, N.C., died 
Sunday in his home.

He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Carolyn S. Deloatch, and a son, Charlie J. 
Spencer Jr., both of Norfolk; three sisters, Mrs. Hattie Braxton of 
Philadelphia, and Mrs. Lucy Brock and Mrs. Ophelia Barbour of Engelhard; two 
brothers, Henry O'Neil and Robert O'Neil of Hyde County, N.C.; and four 
grandchildren.

A funeral will be held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. in Bethlehem Baptist Church by the 
Rev. L.P. Watson. Burial with military honors will be in Calvary Cemetery. 
Visitation at Hale Funeral Home will be Saturday night from 7 to 8.
