Margaret S. Spencer, 83, formerly of Bradenton, Fla., died Saturday, April 7, 
2001.

She was preceded in death by Patrick McGuire Crowling, formerly of Chesapeake, and 
by Elba Houston Spencer, formerly of Bradenton, her former husbands. She will be 
greatly missed by her son, Patrick McGuire Crowling Jr., a retired attorney, and 
his wife Pauline Stuhlman Crowling of Richmond; two stepchildren, Juanita Spencer 
Blanchard of California and Robert Houston Spencer of North Carolina; two 
grandchildren, Katherine Noel Robinson and her husband David William Robinson of 
Richmond, and Patrick McGuire Crowling III and his fiancee Ruth Naomi Fienblum of 
Richmond; two step-grandchildren, Sandra Spencer Kelly of California and Robert 
Houston Spencer Jr. of Australia; and a cherished benefactor, Ann C. Auberjonois.

Mrs. Spencer was very proud of her family of teachers and musicians. She was an 
office nurse in Norfolk for Dr. Walter B. Martin and Dr. John Franklin.

The family received friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Huguenot Chapel of Woody 
Funeral Home, Midlothian, Va., where a rosary was said at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of the 
Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. today at St. Edward the Confessor 
Catholic Church, with a reception to follow. Interment will be at 3 p.m. today in 
St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Norfolk.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to St. Edward the Confessor Catholic 
Church Building Fund, Richmond.
