NORFOLK - Maggie Branch Spencer of the 800 block of Johnson Ave., was born Jan. 
24, 1921, and was called home to eternal rest on Sept. 20, 2007, in her 
residence. Maggie was the daughter of the late Estelle Cook and James Branch.

She was a 1939 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. She served in the 
U.S. Army and later retired after 30 years of service from Portsmouth Naval 
Hospital. 

Memories of love and devotion will be cherished by her cousins, Ethel Moore, 
Ernest White and Melvina Herbert (Johnnie); goddaughters, Sarah Tabron and JoAnn 
Skull. 

A homegoing celebration will be held Wednesday at noon in New Calvary Baptist 
Church with the Rev. Dr. William Collins officiating. Interment will be in 
Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends will assemble at the residence one hour 
prior to the service for the procession to the church. Graves Funeral Home is 
handling arrangements.
