Norfolk - Funeral services for Willie R. Spence Sr. of 2801 Liberia drive were 
held recently in Hale Funeral Chapel.  The Rev. T. M. Venable, pastor of 
Jerusalem Baptist Church, officiated.  Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.  Mr. 
Spence, who died Feb. 20 in a hospital, was the son of Mrs. Eva B. Spence and 
the late James Edward Spence.  He was the husband of Mrs. Mamie R. Spence.

A native of Exmore, VA, he was a self-employed painter and a member of 
Covenant Avenue Presbyterian Church.

In addition to his wife an;d mother, surviving are two sons,Willie R. Spence 
Jr. of Richmond and George B. Spence of Norfolk;  four daughters, Mrs. 
Jeanette Faulks, Mrs. Toleda Stone, Miss Joann Spence of Norfolk and Miss 
Katherine Spence, all of Norfolk;  and two brothers, Linwood and James Spence, 
both of Norfolk.
