He was almost a legend among the Norfolk County police and jailers. He had a reputation for being incredibly available whenever someone needed his services during his more than 35 years as a bondsman. During World War II, he was the only bondsman working at the Norfolk County office. He was at the jail day and night, frequently sleeping in his car, eating take-out orders of sandwiches. Illness had curtailed his activity for a period but in recently months he had once again become nearly omnipresent at the jail. Mr. Spensky is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ida Jacobson Spensky, of 118 Duke Drive, a daughter, Mrs. Doris Morrison, of Norfolk; two sons, Maury and Gilbert, both of Florida; three sisters, Mrs. Lena Saunders and Mrs. Fanny Haskell both of Norfolk, and Mrs. Ida Fivel, of Richmond; and four granddaughters. His body was taken to the Brennan Funeral Home.
