E. Spillers, a well-known citizen, died last night at his residence on Mariner street, near Church, after a lingering illness of consumption, aged 53 years. Mr. S. was an Irishman by birth, but had been in this county and city for many years, and was a brave soldier in the Confederate ranks during the war, and has many comrades surviving in this city who bear willing testimony to his efficiency as a soldier. Mr. Spillers was a tailor by trade, a most excellent workman, and was popular among those who knew him. He leaves a widow and two children to mourn his departure. His funeral will take place at 3 o’clock tomorrow afternoon, from St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
