Norfolk Virginian Pilot August 15, 1937
Roland Collie Spratley, aged 37, of 2116 Lee street, South Norfolk, died at a 
local hospital yesterday morning at 9:20 o'clock after a brief illness. He was a 
native and lifelong resident of this section. He was the son of Mrs. Olivia 
Sawyer Spratley and the late Roland Nicholas Spratley and husband of Mrs. Ruth 
Bailey Spratley. Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by one son, Richard 
Spratley; one daughter, Dorothy Spratley; three sisters, Mrs. D.L. Ward, Mrs. 
G.D. Stevens and Mrs. M.E. Johnson, all of South Norfolk, and two brothers, 
Linwood and Leon Spratley. Mr. Spratley was a member of Chesapeake Avenue 
Methodist Church.
This body was removed to the Graham Funeral Home, Jackson and Jefferson streets, 
South Norfolk. Funeral services will be conducted privately Monday afternoon at 
4 o'clock at the grave in Riverside Memorial Park.
