Mrs. Spratley was born in Princess Anne County, and was the daughter of the late Claudius James and Ella Whitehurst Nimmo. She taught in Princess Anne County and later in Norfolk. Before retiring into the Hermitage Methodist Home in Richmond, she and her husband, James Beckwith Spratley, resided in the historic Laurel Meadow Farm near Mechanicsville, Va., in Hanover County. She was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church in Mechanicsville. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a sister, Elizabeth N. Atwood of Virginia Beach. A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. today at the Hermitage Home Memorial Chapel in Richmond. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Elmwood Cemetery, Norfolk.
