NORFOLK – Mrs. Mona McGrath Spring, 38, of 5330 Barharbor Drive, the wife of 
Navy Lt. Cmdr. William R. Spring and a former teacher, died Friday morning in 
her home.
She was born in Illinois. She was a daughter of Mrs. Mercedes Batterton McGrath.
She was a graduate of Allegheny College. She was a member of St. Matthew’s 
Catholic Church and active in Poplar Halls Elementary School PTA.
Other survivors include three daughters, Misses Theresa L. Spring, Lauren G. 
Spring, and Marya B. Spring, and a son, Glenn W. Spring, all of Norfolk, and a 
sister, Mrs. Merle Cusick of San Diego, Calif.
 The body was taken to H. D. Oliver Apartments. A funeral Mass will be 
celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Matthew’s Catholic Church with burial in St. 
Mary’s Cemetery. A Christian Wake service will be held Sunday night at 7 in the 
funeral apartments. The family asks that flowers be omitted and memorial 
donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
