The pastor, the Rev. E. E. Morgan, officiated. Mr. Spruill was stricken at his home on Monday. Mr. Spruill had been a member of First Baptist since it was organized in 1944. He served as deacon and church clerk during his entire membership at the church. He had been a resident of Crestwood since 1943. He was a graduate of Tarboro high school at Tarboro, NC. Survivors are Mr. Spruills’s widow, Mrs. Annie Peyton Spruill; four sons, Elmer, Donald, Melvin and Marshall, all of Crestwood; two daughters, Miss Kay Spruill and Miss Marvin Spruill, Crestwood; mother, Mrs. Nettie Spruill Revells of Philadelphia,PA; two brothers, Henry Spruill, New York City, and the Rev. Freddie Spruill, Philadelphia; two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Lee Stevenson, Murfreesboro NC, and Mrs. Catherine Perry, Philadelphia, and other relatives. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery with Chatman’s Funeral Home in charge of funeral arrangements.
