A Norfolk native, Mr. Spruill was a retired stevedore of Norfolk Naval Supply Center and was a World War II veteran. He was a member of Macedonia United Christian Church, Norfolk, and the Masonic Lodge No. 95. Survivors include his wife, Viola E. Spruill; two daughters, Carol Dabney and Jane George; two sons, Amos Spruill Jr. and David R. Spruill; a sister, Clara Mae Haynes; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of friends and relatives. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday by the Rev. Richard Council in Metropolitan A.M.E. Zion Church, 1710 Springfield Ave., off Campostella Road. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . The family will be residing at 2317 Westminster Ave., Norfolk, 23504. Family and friends will assemble at the residence at 10 a.m. for the funeral procession. Hale Funeral Home is in charge.
