The Norfolk Virginian Pilot Monday October 11, 1937
Capt. Rufus King Spry, aged 83, died last night at 8:40 o'clock at the 
residence of his son, Rufus King Spry, Jr., 913 East Indian River road, after a 
long illness. He was a native of Elizabeth City, N.C., and had made his home in 
this section for 60 years, where he was well known and highly esteemed.
He was the son of Samuel and Elizabeth Simmons Spry and surviving him are his 
wife, Mrs. Anna Shipley Spry; two daughters, Mrs. W.E. Brite and Mrs. A.E. 
Sieloff; one son, Rufus King Spry, Jr., seven grandchildren and one great-
children, all of this section.
The body was removed to the Graham Funeral Home, 124 East Berkley avenue. 
Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
