Indian River Road, groceryman in Berkley for 50 years, died Monday at 8:45 p.m. in a Norfolk hospital after illness of two weeks. A lifelong resident of Norfolk, he was a son of Rufus King and Mrs. Annie Jackson Spry and the husband of Mrs. Julia Kight Spry. His store is at 906 E. Liberty Street. He attended Lafayette Presbyterian Church. Besides his widow, surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Jean Flanagan and a sister, Mrs. William E. Brite, both of Norfolk, and two grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted in Graham Funeral Home, Chesapeake, Wednesday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Raleigh Engle of Lafayette Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. The family requests that flowers be omitted and instead donations be made to the local Cancer Fund.
